Facts About American Slavery: Lies of the 1619 Project and the Democrat Party

Every election cycle in my lifetime has involved democrat politicians pandering for the black vote - who’ve reliably voted blue every time.  In a previous article, I discuss the danger of the lies, manipulation and unfulfilled promises democrats make to African Americans, but the underlying theme they have indoctrinated generations of American children is that “America is systemically racist.”

The modern re-birth of that narrative was championed by none other than the New York Times Magazine who hired a reporter named Nikole Hannah-Jones.  In August 2019, Miss Jones wrote a series of articles dubbed “The 1619 Project” with the express aim to reframe the way slavery in America was viewed.  Of course, she was celebrated by the democrat Left and anti-Americans everywhere.  But here is why I want to discuss this notion of ‘systemic racism.’

At the foundation, Miss Jones asserts that the foundations of America are stained by slavery with the arrival of the first African indentured servants to Virginia in 1619.  While the concept of indentured servitude may be unheard of today, human beings have been submitting themselves to become voluntary servants to people to whom they were indebted since the dawn of man.  In other words, when you messed something up and owed someone money, but you couldn’t pay, you volunteered to ‘work it off.’

While that isn’t what slavery became, nor am I endorsing or condoning it, here are some facts:

Fact: all African indentured servants were given their freedom by 1650.

Fact: a black man named Anthony Johnson arrived in America and ended up owning 250 acres of land.  He started sponsoring other black people and paying their way to America (therefore they were indentured to him to repay his costs).  At some point, there was a dispute between one of the indentured servants and Anthony Johnson took him to court.  In 1654, the court granted Anthony Johnson OWNERSHIP of the servant. When you look at the facts, it sure looks like a black man codified slavery on a LEGAL basis in 1654.  Please note, I’m not endorsing this, NOR am I justifying it. I’m just stating a fact that almost NO ONE knows.  If pre-revolutionary America was so racist, how did a black man own 250 acres of land in the first place?  How did a black man have the balls to take a slave to court in 1654?

Fact: from 1626 to 1650, there were 824 slaves in the British Colonies in North America

Fact: the United States didn’t exist until we did the whole Revolutionary War and a bunch of farmers and fishermen defeated the most lethal superpower in world history at the time…

Fact: 11 of the original 13 colonies passed laws outlawing slavery - and King George vetoed them every time. It was a major complaint against King George III.

Fact:  In 1860, at the height of US slavery, only 8% of Americans owned slaves.

If you really want to geek out and look at statistics, check this out and see for yourself.  Of the 12,521,337 slaves that were stolen out of continental Africa, the data shows that:

·        46% (5.8 million) went to Portugal territories

·        26% (3.3 million) went to British holdings

·        11% (1.4 million) went to French holdings

·        8% (1.1 million) went to Spanish holdings

·        4% (600,000) went to Dutch holdings

·        2.4% (305,326) went to America

When you REALLY geek out and look at the 25-year bands the data is broken into, almost half of the slaves that were brought to American shores were done so BEFORE America existed and was still under British rule AND while King George was FORCING the colonies to accept them!

Fact: in his original draft of the Declaration of Independence, there are 27 grievances that are listed.  One of the LONGEST that Thomas Jefferson wrote condemned the slave trade:

“He (King George III), has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating and carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither….determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought and sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce.” – Thomas Jefferson

Mind you, we have the actual document AND the word MEN was both capitalized and underlined.  In the modern world of texting and email, this is basically Tom Jefferson SCREAMING at the Kind of the most powerful military complex on earth…but I digress.

The knock against Jefferson is that while he spent most of his life railing against slavery, he also owned over 600 slaves. Of course, no mention is made of questions like “how did he treat his slaves?”  or “what would have happened to the slaves if Jefferson granted all of them their freedom and let them figure it out on their own?” or anything of the like.

He sure liked Sally Hemings, whom he fathered children with…which would make him a modern day, progressive SAINT, but then again, she was at this behest in servitude.  We will never know their relationship, so we cannot pretend to understand either way and I won’t.  It’s very complicated and without facts/data, it is fruitless and biased.

What I know is this: a man isn’t going to pen a letter to the King of the most powerful military organization on earth KNOWING that he is immediately going to be on the King’s “Kill List” if caught and captured!  I also know that the reason the reference to slavery was omitted in the final draft of the Declaration was because, by design, all 13 colonies had to agree to all the terms of the document - and 11 of the 13 did, but Georgia and South Carolina (who were heavily invested in the slave trade) objected.

But the story doesn’t end there.

While the fledgling, new and vulnerable United States of America did indeed beat the most powerful military industrial complex in world history up to that point, they also had a re-match with the War of 1812, which lasted until 1815.  So it isn’t like America wasn’t distracted.  They were trying to figure out stuff!

First shots happened in 1775, the Declaration in 1776, surrender of the British in September 1783…figuring out the US Constitution which was ratified in 1787 only to be attacked by England again in 1812…there was stuff going down to distract the nation.

But between 1815 (end of the War of 1812), it only took 50 years to violently END slavery at the cost of over 600,000 American lives.  One tragedy doesn’t negate the other, but here is what I know: no other nation fought a war internally to end slavery, except for one.  America.

The dreams of the very first abolitionists, the 1774 society “Promoting the Abolition of Slavery” was realized.  Ben Franklin was its president and later the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Jay.

Don’t you EVER tell me that our nation was founded on slavery.

Yes, slavery is a stain on the nation, but we were a nation being born AND we fought a Civil War to end it resulting in 600,000 WHITE deaths (virtually all deaths, but not every one).  Yes, the Founding Fathers owned slaves AND by comparison to their European and Hispanic counterparts were outrageous radicals in building a society to outlaw it.  Yes, black people have suffered from Jim Crow laws (democrats), red lining (democrats) and poll taxes (democrats).  There was NO “Big Shift” with racist slave owners in the southern states magically shifting away from the party of Confederate President Jefferson Davis to become disciples of the founder of the Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln.  That is ONLY something that a Leftist intellectual could manufacture.  Just like only a Leftist democrat could manufacture the 1619 Project and the ideology of Critical Race Theory.

The founders of the KKK were ALL democrats.  And the modern democrat Left continues to blind African Americans to the truth and facts of the founding of this nation.

Nikole Hannah-Jones is a college educated ‘journalist.’  She isn’t a historian, and she makes a lot of money spreading disinformation.  She is a ‘celebrity.’  She recruited a bunch of very credentialed intellectual co-conspirators to manufacture a narrative that our corrupt media (the New York Times plus all of the mainstream media) has advanced as gospel and those soft, mushy minds (our kids) who go to university are inundated with this, then peer pressured to conform.

…and THAT is how you get to the state of the nation today.

I have studied abuse.  In spousal abuse and child abuse alike, the dominant authority and the victim do a ‘dance.’  Here is what it looks like:

When I say that I believe African Americans are victims of “Munchausen’s Syndrome by Proxy,” this is how I see EXACTLY what the democrat party has done to them when democrats were their slave owners. And now, they have managed to fool them into believing that voting democrat is the path to ‘equity and inclusion.’  With democrats, you’ll only get more slavery in mind, body and spirit.

We are not a nation of racists.  We are a nation of ANTI-racism.  We have fought for, died for and risked everything to build a God-blessed nation where anyone, regardless of race, religion or creed can not only survive, but thrive.  We are most certainly guilty of some terrible acts, but we are most certainly the most advanced nation on earth BECAUSE of our diversity, experiences, challenges and spirit.

And before you sell your heart, mind and soul into some news reporter who wrote a compelling story about how crappy America is, just consider that she grew up in a nation what allowed her to do so and make millions of dollars and get accolades from the intellectual elites…because racism?  No.  It’s because she lives in the freest nation on earth where she is free from being censored because the slave owning Founding Fathers ensured her right to Free Speech and the Freedom of the Press under the 1st Amendment while they managed to blow up the very system of slavery in the end.

Your mind should be blown right now, but if it isn’t and you want to fight with me, bring it.  I’m open to debate.

This is a massively complex issue and for sure, I could never begin to tackle this in a single post.  If you want to read an outstanding book on how the Founding Fathers were divinely guided to create the longest lasting democratic republic in world history without the benefit of the internet, I highly recommend the book, “The American Story: The Beginnings” by David and Tim Barton.

Most of my inspiration for walking into this particular topic is from a talk that I attended a couple weeks ago led by David Barton.  I’m a follower of he and his father, Tim Barton and their website, www.wallbuilders.com  I highly recommend that you check them out.
