The Case Against the Electric Car
I’ll begin this post by declaring that I do believe that we should be good stewards of our natural resources. I am for development of technology that creates clean coal, solar and wind energy. I support recycling and developing new, environmentally friendly packaging. I think Elon Musk is one of history’s most important inventors and that the Tesla electric car is an engineering marvel.
And I also think the electric car is dangerous.
In the 1970s, scientists were beginning to form ideas about human impact on the environment. Despite the internet trope that Time Magazine had a cover on one of their publications that said something about “The Looming Ice Age,” they did not. When I researched if there was an official response to this internet rumor, I found there was one that featured comments from the man that wrote the original Time Magazine article.
But that doesn’t mean the media wasn’t hyping their own version of the “Looming Ice Age” narrative. Here are just a few of specific articles I found supporting it:

…You get my point. Upon further review, the media had indeed whipped up Ice Age hysteria for the entire decade of the 1970s, so I’ll declare victory on this point.
Scientists figured out that not only is the earth NOT heading toward an Ice Age, but their data showed that temperatures were increasing. So then, Climate Hysterics began sounding the ‘global warming’ alarms. This lasted for the 1990s and the 2000s.
But once again, Mother Nature didn’t cooperate. The earth didn’t ‘heat up’ and NONE of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” predictions come true (or even close). There was very little increase in the earth’s temperature - and even a slight decline.
Alas, the radical Left wanted no more egg on their faces, so they invented the term Climate Change, which of course means that global temperatures go up and down like they have for the 5 billion years the earth has been around…
Just like with the CDC and COVID 19, NO ONE can question the ‘science.’ It is too complicated for us mere peasants. Although the ‘climate modeling’ for so many of these hysterical reports has been proven false or based on the wrong variables, the Climate Hysterics will point their finger at you and tell you that ‘you’re not a scientist!!!’ in hopes of bullying us into silence. I can point to Dr. Roy Spencer, a former NASA scientist and climatologist who declares in his recent article, “Why Blaming Recent Warming on Humans is Largely a Matter of Faith.” (www.drroyspencer.com). He also has an updated chart on the latest global temperatures from 1979 to 2022 and when you look at it, you can’t see much of anything at all. The temperature has gone up slightly and down slightly. You know, like the weather does!
But Dr. Roy Spencer isn’t the ‘right kind of doctor’ nor the ‘right kind of scientist.’ According to the Climate Hysterics, 99% of all climatologists agree that we are in End Times unless we expand government, which of course will save not just the earth, but fix everything!
So how does all this support my “Case Against Electric Cars”?
While indeed, I think electric cars (Tesla in particular) are an absolute engineering marvel, they are fully dependent on …electricity. Where does our electricity come from and how is it manufactured? Well, our electricity comes from highly regulated, incredibly powerful, quasi-governmental monopolies that are controlled by an elite few oligarchs (private citizens and politicians). Their product (electricity) is made by burning coal.
California Governor Gavin Newsome signed an executive order N-79-20 on September 23, 2020 that bans the sale of internal combustion engines for cars and pickup trucks in California by the year 2035. I find this to be absolutely incredible considering California cannot keep the electricity going on a normal, hot August summer day without rolling brownouts that inconvenience its citizens, let alone ban fuel burning cars for ‘green’ electric ones.
We also must suspend the notion that electricity doesn’t rely on coal burning in order to generate electricity in the first place.
But the final and most important argument against banning the internal combustion engine in favor or ‘green’ electric cars is this:
What happens when the government decides to selectively cripple an opposition political party (or anyone that disagrees with them), when they decide to shut down the power source for all our electric cars?
We’ve seen a Presidential Administration politicize the IRS and target conservative taxpayers under the Obama Administration. Had the IRS been tasked with harassing and mis-using their power against Leftist Democrats under a GOP POTUS, we would never hear the end of it. Alas, conservatives are fair game for all seedy, Leftist attacks.
We’ve seen a Presidential Administration leverage the CIA, FBI, Department of Justice and the State Department to wage an illegal war on the Trump presidency for 5 years.
So before you rightly scream, “Tim, you’re a conspiracy theorist!!!”, understand that at every point that I’ve railed against the corruption of Big Government, Big Business, Big Pharma, Big Tech and Big Education, I’ve been right.
The media has complied with our Leftist governmental wackos and they’ve been lying to the American people since the beginning of time. Our ‘educators’ have been pushing the Climate Hysteria Agenda and today, our young people suffer from anxiety and depression because they think AOC is right and the earth really is going to implode in 13 years.
So my Case Against the Electric Car goes something like this: if we are all dependent on electric cars and the government has total power over the electrical grid, they can turn your ability to get to work, the grocery store or your Mom’s house off on a mass scale, very quickly if they don’t like what you are saying, doing or thinking.
Therefore, while I completely admire the Tesla for what it is, I shan’t purchase one and will rely on developing technology that will make the internal combustion engine cleaner and more efficient, not narrowing our opportunity to travel about freely in the name of a political virtue. The threat of a tyrannical government has never been higher than in the past 5 years. We saw the democrat party collude with the media and started burning and looting our cities, then unleash a global pandemic in order to manipulate their way into power. Don’t for a minute think that they wouldn’t turn your cars off if you step out of line and challenge them.
