Tim Barry’s Guide to Happiness in 2023

As we launch into the New Year, I’ve been reflecting about what happiness really is, and how others can get there. I have built a list of solid advice that you can use immediately to not only succeed professionally, but to be happier personally and more fulfilled spiritually. You’re welcome.

First things first, awareness:

  • If the CDC says something is ‘safe,’ know that it is dangerous.

  • If the media is telling you something is ‘true,’ know that it is a lie.

  • If the government is passing a bill to ‘help Americans,’ know that it is going to hurt Americans.

  • If the democrat party says the sky is rose, know that it is still indeed blue.

  • If the republican party says that they are going to undo democrat treachery, know they will do nothing at all.

  • If the education system says that they are ‘for equity and wokeness,’ know that they are destroying the fabric of society and will oppress, suppress, and depress you until you conform.

Now that that’s covered, here’s the list you’ve been waiting for, the Top 10 Ways to Be Happy in 2023:

  1. Turn off your TV.

The media only lies and manipulates, so take their power away and click the “OFF” button.

  2. Get outside every day and get some sunshine.

You’ll be surprised by how mentally and spiritually refreshed you’ll feel by going for a walk around the block a couple times.

  3. Remove yourself from the Drama Queens in your life.

They are looking for you to buy into their trash lives and drag you down with them. Encourage them to seek counseling and get out of there.

  4. Be a social media content CREATOR, not a social media CONSUMER.

Stop spending hours each day watching reels on Instagram and TikTok. It’s rotting your brain -seriously there are published studies about it. And it is all manufactured lies. If you’re going to do anything, create something worthy and interesting and share that. Also, don’t read any of the comments on your posts. Who cares that they think anyway?

  5. Read 15 pages of a non-fiction book each day.

Expand your mind and learn new things.

  6. Exercise for a least 30 minutes per day 5 days per week.

You’ll be stunned at how much energy you have as a result of moving your body every day (plus it’s good for your body, mind and spirit).

  7. Turn off all electronic devices 30 minutes before you go to bed.

It takes a while for your brain to shut itself down for the night, especially when you are scrolling around on social media whose algorithms are designed to clog your feed with things that agitate you.

  8. Get into a rhythm.

Set a specific time to both wake up and go to bed each night. Get your circadian rhythm in alignment. Build the schedule and stick to it. Eliminate the chaos in your daily routine.

  9. Volunteer with an organization that serves the poor or abused.

You’ll be amazed how fantastic you will feel after spending time serving others who literally have no place to sleep.

  10. Journal 3-5 times per week first thing in the morning using the Penzu App (it’s free).

Make it short and sweet, where you list out 5 things you are grateful for and 3 professional, then 2 personal goals you are committed to achieving that day.

BONUS TIP:

Before you start your day, sit in total silence and meditate/pray for 5 minutes. Listen to yourself breathe and push out all your thoughts to only focus on the peace.

So there you go! My prayers are for you to have a blessed and amazing 2023. Cheers!
